About Me
For over 50 years, I've taught philosophy and critical thinking to over ten thousand students world-wide. At the age of 23 I began my teaching career at Westfield State University in Massachusetts in 1966. Over succeeding years, I've taught at Antioch University, the University of Phoenix, and most recently at Santa Barbara City College where I pioneered the online course, Critical Thinking and Writing, Philosphy-111. I wrote my own e-Textbook, REASON ARGUE REFUTE: Critical Thinking About Anything, for the course.
As director of the SBCC Faculty Colloquium in 2016, I produced a diverse series of colloquia on a wide range of controversial topics from DOES GOD EXIST? , REPRODUCTIVE RIGHTS and CLIMATE CHANGE.
I've published the MEDDLESOME PRIEST blog with its top post, THE LAST POPE IS THE NEXT POPE, read by over half a million people.
Hosting VOICES OF SANTA BARBARA on AM1290, KZSB I interview authors, politicians, educators, and citizens on matters of public policy and civics. My TV interview program, FREEDOM MATTERS presents historians, philosophers, theologians, and student leaders to a global audience.
Professor McIntire is well skilled for teaching online philosophy after successfully writing and starring in his own on-man-show JFK: A Time Remembered, appearing in a host of stage, tv, and screen productions before his election to the Screen Actors Guild National Board of Directors in 1983. During that time, he applied his logic skills to the winning side of the landmark Supreme Court Case, Communications Workers of America v. Beck, 487 U.S. 735 (1988), as amicus curiae (Friend of the Court).
