Critical Thinking is the technology of  How to think, not What to think.

I'm Mark McIntire. As a Philosophy Professor I've been teaching critical thinking and writing since 1967. Now, I'm offering this online course to the general public; to life-long learners who simply want the knowledge of valid and sound reasoning/refutation on any debatable topic.
"The function of education is to teach one to think intensively and to think

"The good professors at my alma mater, Mt. Holyoke College, gave me a life assignment: Learn How To Learn.

In all the years since, I never heard that expression again UNTIL Professor McIntire showed up. .Now I am (unofficially) taking a post-grad course whenever I am fortunate enough to be in his company.

A brilliant scholar; a great gentleman. I love the way he cares about the young people he so lovingly mentors.

"Mark McIntire possesses a unique ability to drag the people around him out of the dark cave of ignorance and into the blinding light of wisdom. He is among a rare breed of teachers who challenge their students to THINK rather than merely memorize. I have never known someone to exhibit such precision in thought and speech. Mark is a man of his word and is deeply committed to being reliable, dependable and professional in all facets of his life. I recommend Mark for any work that requires careful thought, talent, precision and professionalism. Mark McIntire is THE Professor!

"Mark McIntire was the most effective and memorable and professor that I had the opportunity to study under while attending Santa Barbara City College. His charisma, sense of humor and authenticity resulted in a uniquely engaging educational experience. Mark's extensive knowledge in many fields as well as his numerous real-world experiences where intertwined with every class lesson. Mark's teaching style and techniques made me feel connected to the world rather than isolated in a classroom. He defied the stereotypical "boring philosophy lecture" by naturally compelling students to participate in dialogues and debates concerning class material. Intellectually brilliant, yet humble, creative and always willing to lend a helping hand, Mark McIntire is the epitome of an competent and innovative educator and mentor."

"Mark is one of the rare people that you come across in this world.

He is a dedicated individual, with the utmost desire to help those around him in a personal and professional aspect.

It is my privilege to work directly with Mark. As a tutor he receives nothing but accolades from his students, whom he continues to mentor long after the tutoring has been completed. As a professional, he is very motivated, hard-working, loyal, honest, friendly, and passionate about what he does. It is an honor and pleasure to know an work with Mark McIntire."

Boot Camp for the Mind...
Reviewed in the United States on February 27, 2014

I first read Mark McIntire's excellent Reason, Argue, Refute three years ago, and have reread it twice since and keep it handy for that quick "I need to look up what he wrote" moments at the office. It is literally a "boot camp of the mind" book -- Professor McIntire breaks down the thought processes in such an entertaining yet compelling manner that the reader can't help but learn something about reasoning, decision-making, and most importantly, about themselves.

There's a lot of "I never thought of it that way" moments...sometimes the book is not a fun ride, as Professor McIntire challenges his readers to learn how to process
information, and become a better advocate for an issue, a project, or oneself. This book serves as an elegant business primer as well as an opportunity to better one's own situation. I highly recommend it.
